Cholera in Haiti

In the wake of the earthquake and Hurricane Tomas, cholera continues to spread through Haiti.  Light of Christ joins with other North Carolina churches to sponsor a church and school in Bayonnais in the north of Haiti.  Pastor Actionnel Fleurisma reports that cholera has spread there, and that the school has been closed.  This is the most worried we have seen Pastor Actionnel.  After all that he has endured over the years in Haiti, the pastor's words speak volumes.  We are seeking how to help.  As we do so, let us keep the people of Haiti in our prayers.

The Great Recession

The Great Recession officially ended 16 months ago.  We currently are in what is being called a "flat" recovery.  The unemployment rate has averaged 9.5% for the past 14 months.  In other words, times are still tough.

What's Your Story?

Would you watch a movie about a guy who wanted a luxury car and worked years to get it?  Would you cry at the end when he drove it off the lot?  Would you tell all your friends to go see the movie, because it changed your life? 

I'm guessing that your answers are No, No, and No.

So why do we spend years actually living out such stories and expect our lives to feel meaningful?  Would people pay to see a movie about your life?  Would you even want to see it yourself?
